You have probably noticed the new, energy efficient light bulbs in stores. Unlike the traditional "bulb" shape, these light bulbs have a unique spiral shape. They cast off a brighter light and will last up to 5 times longer than older light bulbs.

If you want to go green, you do not have to do so all at once. The newer light bulbs are more eco friendly, but they are a little more costly than the older light bulbs. In order to go green with less of a financial impact to yourself, pick up one of these light bulbs each time you visit the store. Use the same wattage as you would with your ordinary light bulbs. Then, when a light bulb goes out, replace it with one of the newer versions.

How often do you replace your light bulbs? Chances are, if you are still using the old fashioned, cheap light bulbs, you are replacing them often. Maybe as much as once a month.
