Exterior Home Design Photos
Rose Ybarra
You're supposed to take pride in your home. Coming home after a long day of work, you should take a look at your house and sigh a great sigh of relief that you're living in such a beautiful place. Of course, while this is the ideal situation, you're currently far from having that ecstatic feeling about your home at the moment.
The real problem has to do with your exterior home painting job – it looks horrible. Despite that high school sports injury that's plagued you for years, you still managed to climb up that confounded ladder and paint. In fact, you were actually very proud of yourself when the exterior home painting job was completed. That is, until you climbed down (albeit slowly) from your ladder, took a few steps back, and actually looked at the overall new appearance of the house.
The first blatant mistake that you made was using the wrong color. The color was supposed to be a nice shade of blueberry, but it ended up being a rather maudlin shade of midnight blue. You protest that this exterior home painting job snafu is not your fault. After all, you were wearing sunglasses at the time. After all, it's more important to protect your eyes, right?
Then there was the paintbrush you used. You found it in the back of the garage, and it's at least ten years old. At the time, it seemed like a better idea to use that one, then to actually go out and buy a brand new one. Things are too expensive nowadays anyway!
Well, what began as a smart way to save some money ended up as a dumb idea. As you painted, bristles started falling off at record speed. More creative types might argue that the patterns the bristles made within the paint look quite lovely. However, you're not the fancy type; you just want plain, old, blueberry paint, minus the bristles.
That's not even the worst of it. You took a couple of days off of work to get the exterior home painting job done and, needless to say, you were in a bit of a rush. You didn't care about precise strokes – you just wanted to get that new paint on! Well, it seemed like a very good idea until the end result proved that it looks like a child's coloring book.
What made it worse is that you could have had help, but oh no, this was a one-man job for you. Your child, home on summer vacation, recently completed an internship program with College Works Painting, and knew exactly what to do right. Alas, because of your stubbornness, all your child could do is sit back and watch what you were doing wrong.
Alright, so maybe you made a few mistakes. You might have saved some money, but you certainly didn't save yourself any stress. So, what should you do next? Go to your local home improvement center with your child, buy the right supplies, and admit to defeat!
