Find A Dog A Home
Jeffrey Eugenio
We all know that information about the dog that we desire can help us a lot in making the right decision on whether or not to get that dog. The dissimilarities in temperament and personality among dog breeds can be as diverse as the uniqueness in people. Discovering the perfect match between the dog type with the owner or family is the key to success in getting a dog into your house.
There are numerous breeds that are naturally introduced to the dog world also those created specially by cross-breeding or breeding 2 different dogs, for example Labradoodle which is a cross breed between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle.
You should also consider what dog size you can have. Having a huge back yard can provide plenty of room for a big dog type to run and play around.
Are you looking for a pet that is strong, yet cute and plays well with your children? Are you thinking of getting a guard dog for your home? Do you want to develop a show dog to enter competitions?
Maybe you just want to own a faithful companion, petite enough to be at ease in your house and calm enough to sit with you and accompanying you? These are several concerns to think about as you hunt for the perfect type of dog.
Are you living by yourself in your house? Single person who works long hours you need to choose a dog breed that can manage with lots of time alone indoors ? maybe pet dog that enjoy dog toys and entertains himself.
If you live with small kids a medium to large-size pet dog is better because this type of dog is generally gentle by nature and also patient with kids. For them, their pet is like a toy ? your kids don't understand that dogs are living; breathing being that can get hurt and become aggressive by rough housing.
There are breeds that are not patient with the bad and aggressive of small kids, but would be great with grown-up kids. A good dog for older adults is a breed that's not demanding.
Dogs can also be divided into 2 important types - those that shed a lot and also those that do not shed. Shedding is a big complaint of people who have dogs. Dog fur clings to furniture, clothing as well as people who sit anywhere in the house. Do not be fooled by short haired dogs because they too can shed. Shedding can be grouped into barely sheds, seasonal only shedding and constant shedding.
Another important factor to consider is the size of the dog. Smaller dogs weigh less than 10 pounds, medium dogs weigh 11-25 pounds, large dogs weigh 26-50 pounds and extra large dogs weight 51-80 pounds. There are also extremely huge dogs that can reach up to 100-180 pounds. Now you see why size is also a big factor in picking a dog that is suited for you and your family.
Do you think your furniture can take that much dog? In picking a dog breed always keep in mind to base your decision on the size the dog breed will grow to as an adult and not on the appearance of the puppy.
Big dogs are also big eaters. If you bring home a Mastiff, you may need a second occupation just to pay for the dog food.
Care requirement is another thing to consider. There are dogs that need more grooming and care than other breeds. Dogs like poodles or show dogs may spend a little more time in grooming centers than you do. An ordinary dog breed may need daily grooming to keep their furs from tangles. Take time to research about the breed that you are eyeing for. Check the breed's character, size, and also grooming requirements before you make a choice. Researching those important information will surely save you a lot of time and avoid any problem in taking care of the dog. It is only fair to the dog you choose that you be ready for its basic needs, plus provide the love and attention that only you and your family can give.
