In the year 2007 the breast augmentation procedure has taken over the nose job surgery as the number one surgical procedure done for cosmetic purposes. That said the nose job surgery has been there for decades and most males as well females wanted to get the nose which looked similar to the nose of their favorite actor or actress.

Another particular reason in the increase in nose job surgeries is the African American population. A lot of young females as well as males in that African American segment wanted to have a Caucasian nose.

A nose surgery is done by two methods namely the closed procedure and the open procedure. In both the procedures the surgeons need to reach to the cartilage of the nose which is forms the bridge of the nose. In the closed procedure the incision is made in the inside of the nostril recesses and in the open procedure the incision is made in the between the narrow area in between the nostrils.

Both ways the aim is to reshape the nose and that reshaping is done by using the cartilage tissue. In some cases the cartilage tissue is added to the nose or in some cases the cartilage tissue is removed from the nose. For addition of cartilage tissue the extra tissue is taken form the septum of the nose.

In some cases there are additional surgical procedures which need to be done while the surgeon is doing the nose job. On of the most common additional procedure is the deviated nose septum which needs to be corrected. This deviated septum usually from the outside gives a bad look and also will cause breathing problems later. It is essential that while you are at it you should get the surgical procedures done together.

The recovery from the nose surgery is painful for the initial few weeks and then there is gradual forming of the nose shape as the tissue grows around it based on the internal restructuring of the nose. These are slow changes and very subtle so you would not notice that the nose is beginning to take its shape.
