Making Money At Home Ideas
Kelly Heldreth
So, there are the normal ways to make money from home that most people think of pretty easily. These include selling products online, web design, etc. But what if those ‘run of the mill' ideas are not your cup of tea? If you want to get a little creative, the possibilities can be endless! Here are some odd ways to make money from home.
Put Out the ‘Room For Rent' Sign - If you have a larger home with extra bedroom space, how about renting a room out. Rooms usually rent for anywhere from $200 - $600 per month. If your home has a pool or is on the water, you can bring in even more income.
Open a Bed & Breakfast - Do you live in a tourist area? If your home is large enough and you have the skills to cook, clean and do basic maid services, you may want to consider offering rooms in your home to travelers who are vacationing in your area. Rooms can range anywhere from $50 to $250 per night.
Hold Children's Parties - Another good way to make money from home is to have tea parties or other types of themed parties in your home. A recent broadcast of the popular show ‘Wife Swap' featured a couple who held tea and etiquette parties for little girls. The couple dressed up in formal wear, and provided tiaras, boas, white gloves and jewelry for the tea party guests. The husband served the food and drink while the wife gave tips on lady-like manners.
Buy and Sell Used Vehicles - A very lucrative way to make money from home is to purchase used vehicles and resell them. Even if your profit is relatively low, it is usually at least $500. This is what a lot of people make in one week at a desk job! Many people think they need a dealer's license, but depending on what state you live in, a special license is only needed if you sell over a certain number of vehicles. In some states, that amount is 12 per year! For the car enthusiast, this is a match made in heaven.
Rent Your Home Out as a Movie Set - Somebody's making money from their home (literally) on this one, so it may as well be you! Movies are taped on location all the time and many movies and television specials use actual homes instead of fabricated sets. All you have to do to get in line for this one is to take photos of your home, inside and out, and then register with the local film commission in your area.
There are plenty of unusual ways to make money from home. Use these as idea starters and with a little imagination, you can probably think of a lot more. Consider the things that you enjoy doing and things that you are good at. Often, an unusual interest or hobby can spark an idea that can lead into a lucrative way to make money from home. The opportunities are out there if you keep your eyes open!
