Aviator Sunglasses For Women
Max Bellamy
Aviator sunglasses were designed in 1936 for military use. The seemingly humble pair of aviator sunglasses was, in fact, useful gear for the armies in the Second World War. Since then, they have evolved greatly and contemporary aviator sunglasses are trendier and sleeker, with additional features like photo-chromatic lenses and gradient lenses.
Aviators are androgynous, meaning that both men and women can wear them. They are usually preferred in black and brown tinged lenses, but green, blue, gray, and violet lenses are also quite popular. They also come in a variety of frames, with gold plated frames being the most favored. The frame of these glasses is very lightweight and thin so as not to add to the overall weight. Plastic frames are less expensive but do not look as dynamic. Aviator sunglasses may have one or two bridges over the nose to connect the two oval lenses.
Lenses of aviator sunglasses can be made of polycarbonate plastic or glass. Plastic reduces the weight of the lens, but glass is more scratch-resistant. The lenses not only block most of the sunrays from entering and harming the cornea, but they also block out harmful ultraviolet radiation.
Though the primary objective of the aviator sunglasses was something altogether different, today they are used mostly as a fashion accessory. Pop stars and movie stars throughout the ages have popularized aviator sunglasses. They are ideal for blocking out the sun on beaches, golf courses, and summer picnics. A good pair of aviator sunglasses does not create any optical distortion and provide healthy protection for eyes from intensely bright sunlight.
Aviator sunglasses generally cost upwards from $50 and the cost may go up to $100 or more depending on the brand manufacturing them. Ray-Ban, Oakley, Dior, and all other popular brands have their own designs of aviator sunglasses.
