Makita Tools For Sale
Rick Lorenzen
Have you ever been in the middle of an important project or work order when your tool seems to blow up? No matter who you are, you know how frustrating it is to have an expensive tool that you depend on let you down. So what do you do now? Many people open up the tool and try to repair it themselves. But there is a much easier and often, less expensive way! Leading power tool brands generally cover their tools with a one to three year warranty and some, like Craftsman, guarantee a lifetime warranty. It is important to be up to date about these warranties so that if something does happen to your tools, you won't spend unnecessary time and money repairing them.
You could be left wasting a lot of money on Makita, Dewalt, or Bosch on your tools when you could be getting the tool fixed through warranty and not pay anything. Warranties won't cover everything, like if you drop your tool in water or if you only want to have some additional parts available. In this article, we will go through the warranties of manufacturers of some of the most dependable kinds of tools currently on the market: Makita, Bosch and Dewalt.
The Makita website details warranty information. Every tool they produce arrives with a 1-year warranty and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. The 30-day satisfaction guarantee states that if a purchaser of a tool is displeased with the tool for any reason, they can bring back or exchange the tool within 30 days of the purchase date. The 1-year warranty covers the tool for defects in the manufacturing of the tool for one year from the purchase date. If your Makita tool is still covered by warranty, you can take it to an accepted repair center or mail it in to the factory and Makita will repair it.
The really great thing about Makita tools is that if something happens to your tool, they have a full service center where you can send your tools for repair. Often when tools break, people try to diagnose the problem and fix the tool themselves. This can be bad for two reasons: one-being unfamiliar with Makita parts you could break the tool further and two-you could void the warranty. The warranty only covers tools that are not damaged as a result of normal wear and tear, that have not been altered in any way, and that have not been misused or abused. If this is the case and your warranty is no longer valid, you will probably have to purchase the Makita parts on your own in order to repair it.
The Bosch warranty, as shown on the website, is nearly exactly the same as the Makita warranty. One difference, however, is the Bosch 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If within thirty days, you are not completely satisfied with your tool, Bosch will give you your money back. Otherwise, the Bosch warranty stipulates that if the tool has been "misused, carelessly handled, or misrepaired" then the warranty is void. In order to have your Bosch tool repaired under warranty, you have to send or take it to Bosch or one of its authorized service centers. Otherwise, if you no longer are covered by the warranty, you can buy the parts and fix it or pay for it to be fixed at a service center yourself.
Dewalt tools are covered by longer warranties than Makita and Bosch. Dewalt tools have a three year warranty covering the tool and Dewalt parts from defects in material workmanship. Dewalt products also gives a one year free service warranty that allows Dewalt to maintain tools and replace Dewalt parts that are worn from normal use, during the first year of purchase. This is a important warranty for Dewalt users to know about because during the first year if anything breaks for any reason, Dewalt will replace and install the Dewalt parts for free. Dewalt also provides free maintenance and repair on Dewalt parts for a whole year. After that, the tool and Dewalt parts are covered from craftsmanship defects for another two years.
Whatever tools you own and use, bear in mind that it's key to know the warranty you have on your tool. Service and replacement parts can be pricy and it can save you a lot of money and time to have it repaired while it's under warranty.
