So not only will some people experience stressful situations that others might not but also some people will be incredibly stressed out over a situation that another isn't nearly as upset over.
Basically there are two causes of stress. Internal factors and external factors.
External factors are things that happen to us, circumstances of life.Internal factors are how we perceive the situation, and in turn how we react to it.
If two people were to end a long relationship with their partner, it can be perceived as a stressful time in their life or a chance to move on. One person may look at it as a stressful time because of the long history they had together. They may be fearful that they'll never find a lover like them again, which is a cause of stress in and of itself.
The other person may see it as an opportunity to move on and see what else is out there. They may have had a great relationship, but understood that something better was out there for them. He may even look at it as a load being lifted off of his back.
This can be the same for a number of different incidents that we encounter in our daily lives. Some people may stress out over bad weather that is rolling in, how they plan on getting to work without a car or whether or not they will be able to have a good image in front of their new girlfriend's parents. However, others may encounter no stressful feelings whatsoever with any of the above.
There are circumstances that are major causes of stress that almost everybody will encounter some time in their lives. Things like, divorce, death of a loved one, financial crisis, illness, and loss of a job.
All of these circumstances are very stressful. But even these external factors still depend on how they are perceived even though they are major causes of stress. It depends greatly on the person themselves how intense the stress is and how long it lasts. Also if it starts to negatively affect their health or not.
The best way to know what the causes of stress are for you is to have some insight to how you react to certain situations. With a little bit of insight and observation, you'll have a clearer picture on what the major causes of stress are for you. You'll then be ready to change patterns that are the causes of stress.
