The Real Aula Mallorquesa, also called the the Escuela Miramar, was founded in 1276 by James I King of Majorca with the approval of H.H. Pope John XXII and reconstituted by H.R.H. don Francesco Mario Patern? Castello e Guttadauro as Head of the Royal House of Aragon Majorca and Sicily, also Grand Master of the Militare Ordine del Collare (Military Order of the Collar, MOC). It is an institution for higher studies which aims to bring together the various disciplines of Aragonese History, of Historical Studies related to it, and in general the pursuit of Traditional Studies and such as may be followed in the fields of Letters, Arts and Sciences; moreover it aims to publish academic papers and to support by all possible means the development and the deepening of the aforementioned studies. The Real Aula Mallorquesa is an international, cultural institution, independent, non-denominational and non-profit making as defined in Article 26 et seqq. of the Italian Civil Code.

The Real Aula Mallorquesa (RAM) is presided over for life by the Head of Name and Arms of the Royal House of Aragon, Majorca and Sicily, currently The Head of the Royal House of Aragon is His Royal Highness don Francesco Patern? Castello Guttadauro Ayerbe d'Aragona dei duchi di Carcaci, dei principi di Biscari, Duke of Perpignan and Prince of Emmanuel, who has assumed the role of Rector, with the title of Grand Rector, and who delegates his duties to the Deputy Rector who is nominated for an indefinite period.

The individual Faculties, each directed by a Dean nominated by the Rector for a three year period, are as follows:

a) Aragonese History, Genealogy, Heraldry, Diplomatic and Sigillography;

b) Letters, Philosophy and Ethics;

c) Traditional Studies and Higher Operative Psychology;

d) Fine Arts;

e) Science and Technology.

The official language of the RAM is Italian. However the documents and papers of the RAM may be drawn up in whatever language is deemed to be the most convenient. In matters of dispute reference will be made to the original text in the Italian language.

The Arms of the RAM are blazoned as follows: Per Pale and in dexter per Fess, 1 Or four Pallets Gules a Bendlet Azure, 2 Azure a Castle triple-towered Or, 3 Azure three Bars Or between the first and second three Bezants between the second and third two and in base one, which are the Arms of Patern? Castello and Guttadauro. The shield is surmounted by the Royal Crown, its supporters are two Lions rampant regardant Or, on the scroll is the motto "Impavidus Pavidum Firmo", all over a mermaid proper holding the small shield of Aragon and Majorca, which is the Arms of Patern?.

The aims of the Real Aula Mallorquesa are:

a) to bring together in an artistic and cultural forum all those in the various fields of learning whether in Arts or Sciences;

b) to set up and sponsor exhibitions, conventions, meetings, conferences and debates on artistic or cultural subjects, nationally and internationally;

c) to bring together other academies and associations in the interest of artistic and cultural cooperation;

d) to encourage and develop the artistic talents and merits of its own members and of whomever the Academic Senate may consider deserving;

e) to publish a journal containing artistic and cultural information, in particular with regard to the activities of the RAM and its members. Many articles address subjects related to the Militare Ordine del Collare (Military Order of the Collar, MOC).
