We have all been in the situation that when spring rolls around we feel guilty if we don't do a little spring cleaning. But is this the best time of year to clean? I don't think so. Especially in the yard as spring is the hardest time to get everything picked up and put together.
The fall is exactly what it says it is; things are falling off and the land and trees are bare. This means it's a great time to clean up leaves and any other debris in and around your yard, garden or patio and deck. You get it done now and you won't have to touch it again until after the holidays.
You already know the dreaded storage box move is right around the corner. It happens this time every year. It starts with Halloween decorations, then Thanksgiving, followed by Christmas, Hanukah and other celebrations and ends with the New Year. It makes since to get ready for it while you can when there's no rush.
The most frustrating thing that normally happens when you clean is the lack of enough space. Most of us are packrats of sorts and will either need an outdoor storage shed that we can place in our yard or rent a secured storage spot from a local facility.
If your kids are old enough, ask them to help. It might be a great way for the entire family to bond and accomplish something together. Of course, you can always pay them. Whatever works best for you will do.
The other option is to do it totally alone and find space and peace in the process of cleaning. There are those out here in the Universe the find their moments of Zen in the act of cleaning. The key is to find what is positive about the process and concentrate on that piece. Then once you're done, relax until next year.
