Browsing in the internet, water damage restoration companies are found just about anywhere, and their claims and services are pretty much alike: 24-hour emergency response teams and customer service, fully trained water damage restoration professionals, and timely, personalized, and expert service. Come to think of it, you really don't have much to worry about should water damage emergency arise, right? Wrong. Water damage restoration could be as easy and worry-free as these service companies make it appear, but only when you are prepared for it.
The first question that usually comes to mind is, who pays for all the restoration work? The obvious answer would be the insurance company of course. However, while our insurance policy may be safely tucked under our belt, we still have to read the fine print in it. After all, it may well be our future at risk here if we don't get the right and needed protection in the present. Obtaining a good coverage from an insurer will remove the financial burden of water damage restoration that we need to deal with in the aftermath and will help you and your family to get back to normal faster.
For the purpose of water damage restoration, there are three basic insurance policies that will cover this, and one or even two may be just right for you and your property.
The first is the home owner's insurance policy. If you have put a lot of time and money into having your dream of owning a house come true, then getting insurance for your home will secure that investment. Most insurers policies cover all damages or losses brought about by unfortunate incidents including water damage, fire damage, or burglary. Not only will the policy appropriate funds for the cost of having damages repaired, or actually rebuilding your homes, it will also pay for the hiring of a professional to help you in the restoration work. Moreover, any valuables such as artworks or antiques damaged during unforeseen disasters will also be compensated for in a good insurance policy.
If you don't actually own the house that you are living in, then what you need is a renter's policy. Ideally, a good renter's policy will cover most fire and water damage related repairs, as well as damage to your personal belongings, but check your policy upon purchase just to make sure. Normally, it is the landlord who is responsible for damages to structure, in particular exterior damage to the building. The renter on the other hand, should take care of damages to personal belongings and repairs in the interior part including replacement of carpets and wall coverings. You can check out if all these are covered in your renter's policy, and explore as well as your landlord's responsibility in your lease contract.
While most insurance policies cover water damage restoration caused by water related incidents such as leaking pipes, those caused by flood however, are not included in the basic insurance. And for this, it is recommended that you purchase separate flood insurance. For home owners, coverage could reach up to $250,000 for the house itself and $100,000 for its contents. For renters, you can have your belongings covered up to $100,000. There are some states which are more prone to floods and if you belong to any of these areas, a higher premium for flood insurance is expected.
When unfortunate events take place, we really do not know what will happen. Water damage restoration for instance, could really dig deep into your savings and even deplete it. Give yourself some peace of mind. Invest in a good insurance now.
