Free Safety Training Videos
Gen Wright
Employees sometimes claim that training sessions are boring and unnecessary. So they find all sorts of excuses to avoid the training. They have urgent work to do, meetings to attend, family appointments and so on but the truth is, they are just trying to get out of having to bore themselves to death attending yet another monotonous training session. And when they do that, everyone loses. The poor employer, who finds the time to put in the effort to organize the training sessions finds that they have wasted their time when the turn out is poor. As for the employees, if they get nothing out of skipping the much needed training lessons.
The best way to overcome this problem is to inject some humor and entertainment in the training sessions. Engage a speaker well known for giving funny speeches, or buy a series of humorous training videos. Funny videos are rare, and these are the precious gems. If you see such videos on sale, grab them!
Watching funny safety videos is like going to the movies with your colleagues. It becomes a bond building process when everyone shares a common, pleasant experience. Even after the video sessions, it's not uncommon to observe colleagues having a good laugh about the jokes in the canteen, along the corridors or even in the rest rooms.
Such activities promote team spirit and brings the employees closer together. Besides, since the employees have been working hard, it's always good to take a break and enjoy some useful but entertaining videos. It is rare for employers to make such efforts for the employees in this time and age. So if employees learn that their company is willing to make an extra effort to make their training sessions more enjoy, they may be more motivated to put in more effort in their work.
But that's just the side benefit. The main benefit of watching funny safety videos is that employees actually remember what they see in the videos better. Rather than just having a talking head in the video or someone going through some slides, they now have something funny or silly that they see in the videos, which will help them remember the lessons. These silly cues actually act as important reminders. For sure, nobody wants to get caught doing anything stupid!
So that is how employees can get employers to watch safety training videos willingly. Remember the key messages are humor and entertainment, so these two messages have to be communicated to the employees. Otherwise, they will not respond favorably. Play funny videos on a consistent basis and soon, employees will accept this as part of their company's culture and will look forward to the next training session.
