So should you even look into free television anymore?
There are people that just don't watch TV much. It might be because they don't like watching TV, they're in a remote area that doesn't have much channels, or they just don't have enough time. Whatever reason it may be, free-to-air television can be the answer.
Are there more free to air channels available?
Once high definition television becomes mainstream, I'm sure that there will be more free channels available digitally. However, you can get free digital channels even today without having HD. These channels are available through the internet and through existing free-to-air satellite TV (FTA satellite TV) providers.
Nobody has told me about FTA before?
In most cases, the shops that sell it aren't popular. Most cities don't even have stores that sell FTA satellite equipment. However, times have changed.
That's why the internet is so great. There are so many places to do research and shop from. Whether you're going to buy a system and install it yourself, of find somebody to install it for you, you'll be able to get it easier than before.
Are there any disadvantages?
The biggest issue is not getting the programming that you'd like to get. There are a lot of non-English programs and a bunch of indie-broadcasts. To add to that, channels come and go. So should I even look further into Free to Air? Besides satellite TV and your standard free channels, there are many options that you can find, especially on the internet.
