It may not come as a surprise to you that water is good for your health. And it's been widely publicized that drinking water can help people who are trying to lose weight. Few people would disagree, but there are also few who truly understand why this is so.
Some say that it helps you to feel full so you eat less.
Others might suggest that fumbling with a water bottle gives you something to do with your hands and that it takes your mind off of eating. There's also truth to that.
In fact there are many reasons to combine adequate water intake along with exercise to any weight loss program. One of the most fundamental of these happens to be the importance of water to the body's metabolism.
How does water factor in?
Fat is metabolized by the liver. The liver turns the fat into energy.
But the liver also has other functions and one of those functions involves helping the kidneys out anytime they are not working at full capacity. In order to keep the liver optimized for metabolizing stored fat, it's critical to have the kidneys carrying their full load.
Water is required in order for the kidneys to perform. If the body determines enough water has not been taken in - it will start to store water. And not necessarily in places we would like.
The body's need to store water can be curtailed by consuming water consistently.
For most of us, this means a minimum of eight 8-ounce glasses per day.
But many people do require more - those who are already carrying extra pounds or those who sweat a lot due to exercise or temperature.
The body is very good at ridding itself of excess water.
Since most diets require a reduction in caloric intake, less water is normally consumed as well.
The body receives about 30% of it's water via food intake. In eating less, we are also getting less water.
Remember the need for water - and drink it before you feel dried out. You can add some natural flavor as well by adding lime or lemon juice.
Waiting until you are parched to drink water, means the body has already starting the storage process.
I have seen truly amazing results in my Weight Loss Breeze program. I use water in the program but in a completely different way than I've ever seen in any other program.
