In part one of this series we briefly spoke about the principle of stewardship that is taught throughout the bible. Your Christian Home Business is no different. Stewarship is basically how we govern the gifts and provisions that have been given to us from the Lord. We are held accountable for the stewardship of our Christian Home Business just as the Lord holds us accountable in other areas of our lives.
We can learn a lot about stewardship for your Christian Home Business in the parable taught be Jesus in Luke 19:12-27. Refer to the bible for the entire parable, I will paraphrase this portion of scripture.
This portion of scripture speaks of a ruler or king who left his kingdom (business) to pursue other kingdoms for his domain. He left 10 different slaves to be stewards of his business while he was gone. After he left to pursue the other kingdom the slaves or servants were to manage his estate while he was gone. When he returned they were to give an account for how they managed the estate.
The first person who was called into to give an account for how he managed the assets of what he was given responsibility. The king had given him 1 mina and the asked the servant what he had done with that mina. The servant replied, "You gave me one mina and I have 10 more." Due to his faithful stewardship the servant was given 10 cities to oversee. The second had increased the mina to 5 and was rewarded five cities.
The third person that was held accountable came to give his report. When asked what he did with the mina he was given he replied, "I hid it away so that I would not lose it." He didn't increase nor attempt to increase the mina. He didn't even put it in the bank to gain interest he hid it. This is a poor steward, due to his poor stewardship the master took it from him and gave it to the one with 10. The moral is him who can manage little will receive more.
What a Truth. We as Christians are called to stewardship even in our Christian Home Business. We are to take in account how we manage our time, our resources and everything else about our business.
We are held accountable for our relationships with our team, we are held accountable for our talents given by the Lord and we are held accountable for our possessions. The Truth is all these things are on loan from God. Growth in our home business and our lives is rooted in responsibility. What have you done to increase your personal and spiritual development? Have you evaluated the gifts and talents the Lord has given you?
The principle of this is that your business will grow based upon your stewardship of your Christian Home Business. Now understand I am not talking about prosperity preaching or anything of that matter. I am speaking of being blessed according to Gods Word and His will for your business. Remember, those that can manage little will be given more.
