Herpes Symptoms And Pictures
Jennifer King
People have a common idea that herpes simplex is a disease specifically contracted through intimate contact, but this isn't altogether true. Ordinary direct skin contact may also account for herpes virus transmission. Many people still believe that the herpes virus might be caught with the contact of ordinary objects like toilet seats. Although that idea of that happening is extremely unlikely due to the weakness of the virus itself.
The herpes virus passes through minute breaks in your skin, or your mucous membranes of your mouth and genital areas. Keeping your skin strong acts as really good protective guard against the herpes virus.
When it comes to mucous membranes, even the tiniest lesion is sufficient to expose the nerves into which the herpes virus entwines itself . This is the primary reason why herpes infection usually manifests on parts of your body where mucous membranes and normal skin layers join. A good example is the edge of your lip. The virus is reputed to be transmitted by using a razor owned by an infected person. Unlike normal inanimate objects, the virus will live in the moist areas between the razor's blades. This virus may also be passed from mother to baby when giving birth, although most cases show that babies acquire herpes after the birth.
This condition can be categorized into genital and oral herpes. Herpes Simplex causes oral herpes which is also known as Virus Type 1 (HSV-1). They are frequently referred to as cold sores or fever blisters. Cold Sores are often seen as tiny, clear, liquid-filled blisters on your face. These generally appear on the edge of your lips.
Genital herpes, on the other hand, is caused by HSV-2. This form of herpes is recognized by painful, itchy sores around your genitals.
Sufferers infected with this virus usually do not know they have it because it doesn't have any no symptoms. The actual virus can be so tiny it could go unnoticed. Most infected people have noted that their first outbreak was their worst. Many sufferers never get the outbreak again, and some experience it again after a very long time.
When one has herpes, be it on the mouth or near the genital region, you will see the presence of tiny, red bumps, blisters, or open sores in the area of infection. These sores will be very itchy and/or painful to the touch. These blisters will burst and become ulcerations that will ultimately turn into scabs that heal on their own.
There is no true cure for herpes, the best treatments are preventive measures for future outbreaks. Antiviral over the counter treatments like acyclovir and other similar medications help lessen the symptoms and repetition of oral herpes recurrences. Proper care for blisters pre and post eruption may help lessen the pain one may feel during times of outbreaks.
Although herpes outbreaks are not entirely related with intimate contact, if you choose to frequently go with different partners your risk is increased. Knowing the risks will help you make your choices a bit more wisely. And you now live in a time when an outbreak of herpes could be the least of your worries.
