Air cleaners were initially launched as tools to get rid of unpleasant odors in the home. But over time, and as technology became more highly developed, air cleaners that used to be straightforward changed into a product that is used not only in homes but also in major institutions. This is certainly true of the HEPA filter air cleaner system.
These days, these pieces of equipment can be installed in areas where their operation is needed the most, places like hospitals, rehab centers and even nuclear fuel plants. They are used by the aerospace industry, health care institutions, pharmaceutical companies, nuclear power plants, and in computer chips.
How It Started
The HEPA filter air cleaner traces its origins to the year 1940. It was first produced during the occurrence of the Manhattan Project, during which radioactive contaminants entered the atmosphere. Since then, those air purifiers, which had no filter systems, were modernized with more functionality to meet the demands for improved air quality in our ever evolving society.
This super efficient tool with a reliability percentage of 99.99% has proven to be an extremely worthwhile gadget. The HEPA filter air cleaner is still widely used today.
How It Works
The HEPA filter air cleaner works in three ways: interception, impaction and diffusion. Because they are made up of randomly ordered fibers, they are very efficient with regard to their filtering capabilities. They grab pollutants and all types of other unsafe elements which can cause a variety of ailments and disease.
The first step is the capture of a stream of air within one radius. The air is trapped by the filters and so the process begins. The next step is impaction, whereby large molecules are filtered by the tiny fibers within the air cleaner. The molecules continually decrease in size as the air travels through the fibers contained in the system. Finally, the process of diffusion takes place, caused by the air colliding with other gas particles.
There are many uses for a HEPA filter air cleaner system, the most important of which is the highly effective way it rids the air of hazardous particles that we regularly breathe in. Although all the harmful elements in the atmosphere cannot be completely wiped out, they can most certainly be minimized by using a HEPA filter air cleaner system.
