Home Remedies For Gerd
Lisa Davies
A lot of people have assumed that they tried all the home remedies for snoring that there is - nose strips, sprays, and special pillows, or whatever else they could get their hands on. But the truth is that there are many natural and easy home remedies for snoring that are commonly overlooked, which is unfortunate because many of them can greatly reduce and even eliminate snoring altogether! Let's take a look at some of them to see if there's any you've overlooked.
Avoiding Alcohol and Tobacco
Both drinking and smoking dry out the throat, mouth, and other membranes that are involved in snoring. Avoiding these altogether is great but if you can't do that, be sure to avoid them at least a full hour before bedtime. One of the reasons that people don't think of this as one of these home remedies for snoring is because they often try to think of things they can actively do to stop snoring rather than thinking of the things they can avoid!
If you do smoke or have a drink before bed, be sure to brush your teeth and rinse out your mouth thoroughly; also have some water to keep yourself hydrated. As a matter of fact, keeping yourself hydrated is part of most home remedies for snoring so if you're doing something to dry yourself out such as smoking or drinking, you need to increase your water intake even more so.
Clearing the Sinuses
Some home remedies for snoring involve clearing the sinuses, such as rubbing menthol or eucalyptus oil under your nose before bedtime or using a sinus inhaler. Many people overlook these types of home remedies for snoring because they think of snoring as being simply a throat problem, but if your sinuses are blocked then you can't breathe through your nose and then your mouth drops open, causing you to snore.
Other Home Remedies for Snoring
Keeping a humidifier in the bedroom, opening a jar of marjoram in the room, and propping up the front of the bed are all other home remedies for snoring. However, if you do try all of them and are still bothered by your snoring and are consistently losing sleep because of it, then it's time to see your doctor for some medical intervention. He or she can recommend some more proactive methods for addressing this problem.
