Heart Attack is a process. It represents a myocardium (heart muscle) failure in case coronary vessels don’t supply it sufficiently with blood. It occurs more in persons with an unhealthy lifestyle, or those with hereditary predisposition.
Heart Attack has some symptoms that make it different form other Heart Diseases.
The signs and symptoms of Hart Attack are:
* Chest pressure, discomfort, bandlike sensation around the chest with chest heaviness – caused by the myocardium oxygen insufficiency and accumulation of lactic acid and metabolites.
Jaw pain, or extension of pain into the arms or shoulder, especially the left arm
Unexplained shortness of breath – caused by the pain in the chest, the patient tend to maintain its actual position, not to breathe because supplementary movements may cause more pain
Unexplained sweating
Heartburn or feeling of indigestion
Nausea or vomiting
Back pain or upper abdominal pain - the pain irradiates throughout entire body, especially in the abdomen, with an indigestion feeling
General lethargy or listlessness (malaise)
About one fourth of people having a heart attack have no pain ("silent" heart attack). Silent heart attacks are more frequent in people with diabetes. This is because n Silent Heart Attack, the affected myocardium area is smaller and doesn’t produce such notable disturbances that could affect the heart’s entire rhythm and mechanism.
