Thereare two main types of heat pump. Wall mounted heat pumps, as the namesuggest, are mounted high on the wall. As well as the wall mountedoption, there are also ducted air conditioners available that canheat or cool your entire home.
Wallmounted heat pumps
Awall mounted heat pump is usually installed high up on your wall. Airis drawn through the top of the unit and heated or cooled asrequired.
Aducted heat pump air conditioner is installed in your loft or underthe floor of your house. Ducting connects the air cThere are two maintypes of heat pump. As well as the wall mounted option, thereare also ducted air conditioners available that can heat or cool yourentire home.onditioner to the floor or ceiling registers (air vents)to allow tempered air to be drawn throughout your entire house.
The benefits of a heat pump air conditioner
A heatpump air conditioner has many benefits. In summer they keep you cooland in winter they are the most energy efficient means of heating.Dust particles and allergens can be removed from the air through theuse of air filters, and excess moisture is removed by the heat pumpwhilst it is running, producing cleaner, healthier air.
Aheat pump offers extremely energy efficient heating for you home. Bythe flick of a switch, a heat pump turns into an air conditioner andprovides cooling.
Forasthma sufferers, dust particles, allergens, and high relativehumidity can cause grief. With a heat pump, dustparticles and allergens are removed from the air by being trappedinside the air filter. A heat pump can also remove excess moisturefrom the air, lowering the relative humidity.
As itcools your room, a heat pump also removes excess moisture from theair, the process of dehumidification. Less moisture in the air, orlower relative humidity makes the air feel cooler and makes it easierto breathe.
Mostheat pumps are installed either mounted high on your wall, or as aducted system which is hidden either under the floor or in theceiling space. This means that your heat pump is away from pryinglittle fingers. There are no open flames, and no electric heatingelements in a heat pump, making them very child friendly.
Energy Efficient
Modernheat pumps are one of the most energy efficient and cost effectiveways of heating. This is because of how a heat pump works. Instead ofconverting electricity to heat like an electric heater, a heat pumpsimply transfers heat to your room from outside.
Aheat pump can output up to four times the amount of heat compared toan electric heater for the same power consumption.
Heat pump air conditioning installation
Fora wall mounted heat pump, installation will usually take around 6 to8 hours for a quality finish. So what should you expect with a heatpump installation?
Theengineer will first mark out the positions for where the unit will goand install the mounting brackets. A hole is then drilled through thewall that is large enough to accommodate the pipework and cabling. The pipework, along with an interconnecting communications wire, connects the indoor and outdoor units together and should be runinside conduit or capping to prevent damage.
Anew power supply will be run from your power distribution board tothe heat pump, along with a new circuit breaker for additional peaceof mind.
Onceboth the indoor and outdoor units are both in position and thepipework and wiring is complete, the heat pump is then commissioned. This involves removing all the air and moisture from the pipeworkwith the use of a vacuum pump. The pipework is pulled down to acomplete vacuum before the refrigerant is added and the heat pump isturned on.
Oncethe heat pump has been turned on for the first time, a series oftemperature measurements will be taken and the heat pump will becalibrated for optimal efficiency using it's superheat value.
