High Museum Of Art
James Carl
If you have some time to kill in Atlanta there is no better way to spend it than by taking a trip to a museum. Why not go somewhere where you can have fun and learn something at the same time. If you are interested in going to a museum you should check out the High Museum of Art. Continue reading this article to see what makes this museum such a special place to visit.
The High Museum of Art was designed by architect Richard Meier. It is an incredible building with white porcelain tiles and a dramatic white interior. It is home to four different levels of galleries and exhibits. The museum's permanent collection includes over 10,000 individual pieces of art. Included in this permanent collection are pieces from Thomas Cole, Virginia Carroll, William Harnett and Thomas Sully. It includes 19th and 20th century American paintings, Italian paintings and sculpture, French Impressionism and much much more. No matter what your taste in art is, you will find something you like in the permanent collection. In addition to this permanent collection the museum also plays home to traveling exhibits from around the world. This makes for a museum that is constantly changing so do not be fooled into thinking that if you have seen it once there is nothing left for you to see. For a current list of exhibits on display you should call the museums information line.
If you would like to visit the museum you should first call the information line to check current hours, special events and admission prices. The number is 404-733-HIGH. The current admission price is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for children. This makes it a very reasonably priced attraction. One that you should be sure to take in while you are in Atlanta.
