Paula Owen, energy doctor at the organisation, said that in addition to simplemeasures that include keeping doors and windows closed, insulation was key tomaking the most of an energy-efficiency drive in the home.
"The biggest savings can be gained from installing insulation as aroundhalf of heat loss in a typical un-insulated home is through the walls andloft," she advised.
Ms Owen added that cavity wall insulation was "one of the mostcost-effective" measures a homeowner can undertake, saving an average of?120 on heating bills.
Installing an energy-efficient can also be a great way to ensure that a home is running at its most efficient.
