Holiday Villas In Greece
Steve Woodward
The great thing about renting villas is that they almost feel like a home away from home and gives you a chance to really sample what the locals love about their country. In fact, renting a villa rather than staying in a hotel offers you the chance to explore and enjoy everything that the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean has to offer.
Whilst staying on the island there are plenty of activities to do as well as museums and archaeological sites for you to visit. During these, you will be able to learn more about the history of this island. But although most of the museums and sites are free to enter, there are a few, which will require you to purchase a ticket.
Also, you need to be aware that these attractions are not open everyday of the week. For example the Historical Archives of Crete Museum in Chania is open from 08.00 to 13.00 each day except for Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
But as well as all the museums and archaeological sites that one can visit on this island there are things for those who are a little more adventurous. If you want, why not take time out of your holiday and enjoy one of the Pirate Ship Tours, which take you to secluded beaches at Marathi or Bali.
But as well as stops at these secluded beaches during the tour you will have the chance to participate in all the fun and games organized by the ships crews. The Barbarossa and Captain Hook boats give you a chance to taste what life was like as a pirate and to further add to the authenticity of the trip all crew members wear pirate attire.
However, if this all seems a bit too much then why not book yourself a trip on one of the Dolphin Tours instead. These only take place throughout the summer months and leave from Rethymno Harbour and these last 2 or 3 hours. The 3-hour trip also provides you with the chance to sample some of the locally caught fish with a stop over at the village of Panormo.
As you can see from above staying in Villas in Crete offers you the chance to sample much of what this beautiful island has to offer. Plus there is no need to worry about having to rush back to your hotel for lunch or dinner as you decide when you eat and where.
