MLM programs: The ripple effect MLM programs can have a huge impact on the success of your organization and the growth of your business. The concept is also known as network marketing and employs several layers of distributors who market and sell your products for you. If done the right way, the results can be astounding and your organization can obtain huge profit margins.
So what is the 'right' way? Now we come to the crucial question. How do you use MLM programs to further your business? We provide some answers here:
Recruit a few at the first level. Most people make the mistake of recruiting as many people as they can at the first level itself. This is wrong because you need to train these people well. If the first strata comprises good quality, motivate people, your business is that much more likely to succeed.
Provide intensive training. This is very essential because if your first level of recruits is not well familiar with your products and services, they won't be abe to train their recruits and so on. This can have disastrous effects.
Teach the tricks of the trade. You also need to train your first level on the tricks to sell your products successfully. This is essential so that every strata attains success in as short a time as possible.
Stick to the system. Once you have established a business model and realize it's working well, stick to it. Do not abandon it for something new.
Build a replicative model. You need to establish a business model that can be replicated across the several layers of recruits. This is important so that at every stage you don't need to reinvent the wheel.
Promotional literature. Most successful MLM based organizations have a ready repository of reference material for customers and in house MLM recruits. These include catalogues, product information, audio and video tapes, arranging for frequent meetings among recruits, seminars for customers etc.
Sell locally. To begin with, start selling locally. That will help get an idea of the local demographics, the success ratios etc. This is pretty much like a test ground where you get to test the success of your MLM recruits.
Mass mailing and mail orders. A great way to establish a customer base is by mass mailing and mail orders. These will not 'hard sell' your products or services but just promote the offers on display. Customer bases are crucial to the success of your business as it is these people who will ensure repeat sales.
Advertise small. When you are starting off, when trying to advertise, do not aim too big. Most successful MLM based businesses will start with tiny advertisements and then move on to bigger ones, till they reach a stage where they can afford a full page ad in a paper. Follow this strategy and you will never fail.
Take it slow. MLM success never happens in one night. Most of the big names in the MLM industry have taken it slow and steady. It takes determination, a successful business model and good quality of recruits to take the business to success.
Differentiate between advertising and lead generation. The two are entirely different and hence the approach should also be different. Therefore, while you are advertising, you will have the freedom to use any kind of promotional material you like but when it comes to lead generation, make sure to only use corporate literature that is consistent across all levels. This presents a professional image of your company.
Work closely. You always need to train and support your MLM recruits. You will also need to oversee at least in the initial stages, to ensure that progress is going as planned. So ensure to work closely with your teams to help them remain motivated and determined.
Set realistic aspirations. Nothing deadens a business as much as overambitious goals. To help keep your MLM team happy and confident, you will need to set realistic expectations. That way, if they succeed, their confidence levels will go up and they will succeed more.
