When it comes summer time, this is an exciting period for people to travel an as there are now very few inaccessible places on this planet. But, wherever you want to travel to, you can guarantee there will be a travel site that can give you details on every location. Let's face it, when you can book whatever vacation you like using a website, why bother going to a travel agent. Generally travel agents cannot compete, at least financially, with the wealth of sites that can offer amazing discounts.

Although I am not one to put my complete trust in these sites and still like to visit my travel agent. However, I am still of the old school and prefer to sit down with a cup of coffee and plan my vacation with a professional, face to face. There always seems to be much more flexibility with a travel agent and you are able to ask for more details and change your mind with much more ease. It is difficult complaining to a travel site and almost impossible to actually speak to a real person, plus with today's technology it is almost impossible to say where they are in the world.

Even if you are lucky enough to talk to a person, how do you know they are telling you the truth about the situation? It is because of the number of things that can go wrong I still prefer to use my local travel agent even if it does take a little more time and there may be more to pay. One of my friends only ever uses the travel sites to book her vacations but she does like the last minute discounts that can be found which are much easier to find using the internet. Admittedly, she has save a small fortune this way as she will just look at the sites and be patient until the right vacation comes up at the right price.

It would be nice to do this but my career does not allow for impulsive travel arrangements. I don't doubt for one minute that by using a travel site can be less expensive as you can also get discounts on tours and car hire by booking this way.

Still after all is said and done I still the use the internet a great deal for my vacation research before I actually go along to see my travel agent as I will have most of the information I require before I see her. I take that information and then see a travel agent because at least I know that if my vacation turns out to be a nightmare, I have someone to come back and yell at.
