The S9 comes in three models namely ;Hypercom Model S9S is a PIN pad/terminal reading smart cards , Hypercom Model S9SC is a PIN pad/terminal reading both smart and magnetic stripe cards and Hypercom Model S9 is a PIN pad only.

The smart card reader on all models accepts 3V and 5V cards or economic 3V-only cards. The S9 supports a Hypercom plug-and-play software and replaces all Hypercom PIN pads including the Hypercom S1, Hypercom S7 and Hypercom S8 families. The Hypercom S9 is fully compatible with all Hypercom terminals from the Hypercom T7 series through the Hypercom ICE? family. Its been DES certified three times and EMV4.0 Type approved. Also Visa ? approved.
