I Think You're Beautiful
Allen James
If you're ready to speak your doctor about pursuing infertility treatments, you might be surprised to know that there are some natural ways that you can try to fix this problem first before you go with medical intervention. Start with the following lifestyle changes:
Stop smoking.
If you're a smoker, you should know that this is one of the most common causes of infertility. Not only does smoking damage both the male and female body in ways that make getting pregnant difficult, but it damages your health and that of your baby as well. When you smoke, smoke doesn't just go into your lungs and out; the poisons and toxins from the smoke are absorbed into your bloodstream and travel throughout your body, including to your reproductive system (that's true of both men and women). These poisons can greatly damage both a woman's ability to ovulate (as well as to the actual physical health of both her eggs and reproductive system in general), and the quality and volume of the man's sperm. So if you want to have a baby, stop smoking, period. You'll not only improve your own health and your chances of conception, but you'll give your baby a much healthier environment both in utero and out of it, too.
Eat right and exercise
You might think it's just vanity that's a reason for eating right and exercising, but this, too, is going to greatly improve both your chances of conception and the health of you and your baby once you do get pregnant. And again, this is true not just of mom, but of dad, too. When you exercise, you get your blood moving, literally. This blood is the major transport for all nutrition, vitamins, oxygen, etc., to every part of your body, and removes toxins as well. So get moving and increase your chances of getting pregnant.
In addition, improve your diet. Your body needs the nutrition good healthy foods provide to make the best environment for pregnancy to occur (again, for both men and women). A diet of fast food, or loaded with saturated fat, salt and sugar is not only detrimental to your own health, but to that of the baby you want so badly. In addition, it is detrimental to getting pregnant as well as staying that way, since good nutrition is necessary both for conception and for carrying the baby to term. Focus on fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and "good" fats such as olive oil, while cutting out sugar, refined carbohydrates, salt and saturated and trans fats. In addition, of course, while mothers should avoid alcohol while pregnant, excessive drinking for both men and women also further depletes nutrition from the body and increases chances for infertility.
Reduce your stress
Even though the common myth "it's all in your head" simply isn't true for couples trying to get pregnant, it is true that stress is a major factor in infertility. Reducing stress can greatly improve your chances of getting pregnant. Stress put your body under stress, simply, and too much can greatly impede all functions involved in getting pregnant, such as sperm production, ovulation, et cetera. So reducing your stress will go a long way toward improving your chances of conception.
Another new recent innovation in natural infertility treatments is a home ovulation kit. It's certainly possible to get pregnant if you're not ovulating, but it's much easier to do so during ovulation. If you use a home ovulation kit, you can tell when you're ovulating and therefore engage in sexual activity at that time to increase chances of pregnancy.
Of course, discuss any treatments with your doctor, and try them before you consider more invasive techniques or further medical intervention.
