Iran only wants one thing for Israel and they want the whole world to know it. The president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad publicly stated that Israel should be wiped off the map back in November of 2005. Again on August 3, 2006, he went on to say that the resolution to the Middle East crisis would be to destroy Israel. Israel is very concerned also for the fact that he mocks them about what Hitler's German based army did to the Jews in the past as though it was a myth. There is no doubt that Iran wants Israel removed from the Middle East even if they have to use military force to do it.
Looking at this from a Biblical perspective sheds new light on what seems to be a hopeless situation. Israel has nuclear weapons at its disposal where at this time it is felt that Iran does not. Bible prophecy talks about this war and what its outcome will be. By looking at the different names used in the Bible for Iran, one can see a clear picture of what the future may hold.
Damascus, the capital of Syria, is considered to be the oldest city in the world. The book of Isaiah, chapter 17, talks about its complete destruction as the end times draw nearer. Will the alliance of Iran and Syria cause Israel to use nuclear weapons on Damascus to protect itself? You need to consider that Iran was known in the Bible as Persia (Iranians are from Persia, and not Arabic), then you can see that the Assyrian empire of Biblical times was in part, Iran.
In Psalms 83:8 (HCSB), it says that even Assyria has joined them; they lend support to the sons of Lot. This is the start of a reference to the Assyrians and their allies of an attack on Israel, in which it continues to tell of their actual failure. This can easily be related to some of the statements made by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to remove Israel in the past. Though, will he be successful?
Again, in the book of Jeremiah they talk about Iran, but under the name of Elam. The passage tells about how Elam (Iran) will experience severe devastation from what appears to be a nuclear war and how its people will be scattered among many other countries as a result of the same attack to Damascus.
Recent years have revealed many secrets of Bible prophecy and what tomorrow will bring. The prophets of both the Old and New Testament noted many times that the day would come when large nations would try and destroy Israel once again. It is told that in this war though, Israel will win.
During the Holocaust from 1933 to 1945 in which over six million Jewish people were killed, many countries turned their back on the Jews. Iran's intent to destroy Israel brings back memories of the past. The major difference this time is oil. Iran has already stated that if any sanctions are placed against them for not agreeing to nuclear development limitations that they will retaliate. The Strait of Hormuz could become their largest controlling factor in which they could easily put many countries into a severe economical crisis.
At this time 20% of the crude oil used throughout the world passes through this very dangerous stretch of water. For many years now Iran has been purchasing weapons from numerous different countries for the use of protection and possible war. There has been much focus placed upon the Strait of Hormuz including mines, missiles, submarines, high speed attack boats, and more. Iran wants to be able to control the traffic of oil tankers and supply ships traveling through the 35 mile wide strait.
Bible prophecy tells much about the current events taking place in the Middle East. If you want to know what is in store for tomorrow you must understand the past. When the events are correlated correctly, a timeline of what tomorrow brings, appears.
