Keyboard For Piano Lessons
Simon West
1. Let it flow with your mood.
It is easier to play when we let the music go along with the mood that we have. If you are sad or down at the moment, play some sad tunes, when happy, then key in some happy notes. Angry? Some dark and fiery notes will do. If you are excited about something, key in some chords that will match how you feel. It can help you feel better in times you are down or frustrated. In this manner, you can express how you feel through playing the piano. Another idea is you can play the piano to complement the weather condition. To make it more thrilling, you may play piano differently by going against how you feel. You'll surely have great and exciting experience!
2. Hit the keys for your love one.
If you notice, many songs aired today are all about love. Love for one's self, for family and of course for that special someone. Make your own theme, think about the present status about your love life, a heartbreak or someone that you have lost. Think about them as you play and see how it affects your performance. It will more likely show great improvements but if not, you have to acknowledge that it was entertaining doing that thing!
3. Experiment on various music genres.
Go out of the routine that you're into right now. Play pieces that you have never played before. It may sound complex and challenging, but just think about the fun. Try doing a lively piece and just stay calm. Don't be afraid to try something new. Nice r&b songs as well as pop music of the 50's and old school music can also make a big difference.
4. Try doing foreign pieces.
There are several interesting and unique pieces that come outside the country. Go out of your shell and explore music that you can't merely hear on the radio. Listen to it closely and see how other traditions handle the keys. As you go along, you may find great styles and techniques to add on your own skills.
5. Play other instruments.
See how well you can handle other instruments aside from the piano. You may find out that you are also good in a certain instrument and get to learn it. As we all know, learning new things makes you a better musician.
6. Play along with someone.
Look for a partner. He/she maybe another pianist, a singer or player of other instruments like the violin. Make sure to find someone who goes well with your playing style. Discover how you can make good music together as you combine your skills. Just learn how to have fun and it will turn out pretty well!
7. Accompany a song that you hear on air.
Any song will do, may it be something aired on the radio or the commercial tune on tv. This may be quite challenging but if you approach it in a different manner, you'll find yourself smiling while discovering new things.
8. Create you own music.
Another thing that will help boost your skills is by creating your very own piece. Though it may sound challenging, you'll see amazing results if you just have the patience and dedication.
9. When you have familiarized a certain piece, try improvising it.
Make improvements on an existing song. This will make things easier if you feel that you are not yet ready to make your own. If it is a lively piece, try running it in a somber way or vice versa.
10. Exchange the music genre.
How will a Gershwin piece sound if played in a Christian church? Do some variations by making some changes along the rhythm of the song and observe what you can have out of it. Many existing unique and creative songs is the end result of combining different musical elements.
If you have a creative mind, then you can add up another fun thing to do on the list!
