We have all heard the old saying ‘first impressions are the ones that count’.  In the dating scene, this is the way it is.  Our first impressions are the ones that we take away with us when we meet someone.  This impression about the person is the way that we will continue to judge the new person whether it be for the good or for the bad.  This is the way human nature is and it is very difficult to change your opinion about someone once it has been formulated.  Keeping this in mind, is it possible that on your first date you are blowing it by giving off the wrong impression?  There are many factors which you should take a look into that you can change to give off the best first impression that you can. 

The first factor is your appearance.  This is not just what you look like, but also how you dress and how you present your body language.  You want to make sure that you always look your best.  If you feel that you have a fat belly, dress so that your attire draws the eyes to your best attributes instead.  Keeping yourself looking clean and well groomed wearing the more updated wardrobe will get you that second glance every time.  However, if your body language is not wonderful, then that second glance will keep on going to the next guy.  You definitely want to appear confident in your walk, your stance and your proximity to other people.  If you are standing in a corner with your arms folded over your chest, you do not appear approachable to other people.  This is definitely not the way to meet the opposite sex.  You want to appear relaxed and approachable, so put that smile on your face, laugh a little and watch the people flock to be in your space. 

Okay, so now you have the attention of the opposite sex.  Keep in mind that your appearance is not everything.  Having a good conversation and talking to the opposite sex is a key point in making a long lasting impression.  You should never just clam up and not say anything.  This might make your new friend feel like you are just not interested.  Try to find some common ground to talk about.  You would be surprised how finding a topic that interests both of you will spark a good lasting impression as well as leaving your date interested in coming around for more stimulating conversation.   A good way to make an impression is to tell your date that you like something about them.  This could be anything from clothes to the color of their eyes, choose something that you can honestly say that you like.  This will make them feel genuinely appreciated.  When you are in the conversation mode, make sure to always make eye contact whether or not you are speaking or if you are listening.  This will make your date feel like they have your undivided attention and you will definitely make a lasting impression on them.
