Kaiser insurance members have access to some of the best doctors in the world, regardless of what United States geographic location they reside in. From Kaiser California to Kaiser Colorado to Kaiser Georgia, the nation's best go to Kaiser Permanente hospitals to further their career in the medical community. Kaiser Permanente doctors are also responsible for some of the most comprehensive and innovative research projects all around the world. It was a Kaiser Permanente doctor, for example, who created a breast cancer research stamp and also extended his efforts abroad.
Surgeon Ernie Bodai, MD is a Kaiser California doctor who serves as the director of the organization's Breast Surgical Services in Sacramento. He created a breast cancer research stamp that was launched in 1998 in all United States post offices, and raised more than $65 million for breast cancer research throughout the nation. Using this same tool, Dr. Bodai is making an effort to bring hope in way of money for education, outreach and treatment to people in some of the world's most impoverished countries. He is encouraging the governments of these countries to create similar stamps to raise money through his international campaign.
While Kaiser insurance members and American community members have access to some of the best care in the world, Dr. Bodai understands that people in many other nations not only do not have health insurance, but they don't even have a hospital to go to in emergencies. His efforts on behalf of Kaiser Permanente and the rest of the medical community have paid off so far. Bodai's native country Hungary has adopted the program, as well as Belize, Micronesia, Grenada, Kenya, Philippines, Romania, Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Croatia, Serbia, Jordan, and Gambia.
Dr. Bodai is also looking forward to his efforts paying off in Israel, which is expected to start their own stamp program next year. This is just one Kaiser Permanente doctor who is making a difference not only in his own community, but in the global community.
