Jks World Of Golf
Jeff Austin
If you have a thorough knowledge of the rules you will have an advantage over players who do not.
This rule book is not just to impose penalties; it also outlines players rights in some instances. Some of
the most important rules to remember are:
*Unplayable lies - Only you can decide if your ball is unplayable and a one-stroke penalty allows you to
drop within 2 club lengths on either side or back as far as you like on the flight line.
As long as it isnt closer to the hole. You may also return to the original play position with a stroke
and distance penalty.
*Casual water or ground under repair the ruling is the same for both of these, except that ground under
repair a certain drop area is provided.
If your ball likes in either or you are required to stand in either of these you are allowed to drop at
the nearest point, not nearer the hole free.
If either is in a hazard you must drop inside the hazard unless you take a 1 stroke penalty.
*You are entitled to relief from artificial obstructions.
*You do not have to play with a damaged ball.
*Unlike match play where you can request your opponents take the stroke over there is no penalty for
playing out of turn.
*You may lift your ball to identify it at any time unless it is in a hazard, it must be returned to the
same spot and must be done in front of your opponent or a marker.
*In match play if your opponent plays the wrong ball you win the hole. In four ball the offenders partner
is not penalized. If both play each others ball, the first one looses the hole.
*The maximum number of clubs is 14.
*There is no penalty for hitting a flagstick as long as the ball was played off the green. On the green
the stick must be attended or removed.
*You should always repair ball marks on the green
These are only some of the rules you need to be familiar with, keep a copy in your golf bag.
