Last Day At Office
Gary Gerasimon
I've decided to discuss a different topic for this article. It's an issue that's very relevant to home-based entrepreneurs. I can sum it up in one word.
Focus. that's it. A simple word - but when you're trying to run a business, if you don't discipline yourself in this area, you're doomed to fail.
I've lost focus more than a few times over the years. It's easy to do in the home-based business opportunity market. You look at these different
programs and they all seem so tempting. So potentially rewarding.
You picture yourself relaxing on vacation somewhere in paradise, thinking about all that money you've got in the bank. Why go home tomorrow? You're the boss now. Stay another few days - you deserve it.
It's hard to motivate yourself to stick with a program, especially when you've failed with them again and again. But it's critical that you do.
I've found that the best way to succeed is to join a program and focus on it. It's easy to get sidetracked, but if you want to make something work, you've got to focus.
If you're in an opportunity right now which you think isn't delivering the results you're looking for, then you should make a list of a few things that you want
in a program.
What do you have to do to market it? Do you have to sell anything? What's the product? What's the investment and profit potential with the program?
Ask yourself those types of questions - and then stick with it.
Think about it like this. Imagine you were just starting a new job and on your first day, everything went ok. You had a pleasant talk with your new boss. You met a few co-workers. You went out to lunch with some people. And learned a few things about your new job.
That was Monday. Now say it's a Tuesday - you walk into the office and go to another department and work there for the day, learning a new job. New tasks.
People are looking at you funny. Who's the new guy? Didn't I see you in Accounting, yesterday? They can't figure you out.
By the third day, assuming you haven't gotten fired yet, you've decided to spend some time in the mailroom. You spend the morning there, trying to figure things out. And then it's Thursday. The company president is away on business, so you
sneak into his office.
You start answering the phone. You admire his screen saver. Check to see how his stocks are doing, since he accidentally left the computer on.
And now it's Friday. Well, you know what today is. It's your last day at the office.
And that's exactly how many business opportunity seekers approach these programs. They join this program. And that one. And before they've been in that one for a couple of weeks, they've found something else that looks good.
That's a recipe for disaster. Don't do it. Find a program. And stick with it. That's the only way to succeed in this market.
