List Of Online Schools
Jenna Lee
Online education is a fairly new trend that's becoming more and more sought out and accepted by the masses. It has definitely become a viable option for individuals that wish to purse degrees beyond high school. While many students welcome online schools as a cheaper and more convenient alternative to traditional brick and mortar colleges, not everyone is convinced that these online schools can offer the same quality when it comes to education. Here are some of the pros and cons of online schools.
Pro: While studying online, an individual has the opportunity to work, thereby gaining workplace experience along with knowledge. There is no substitute for experience. Because of their flexible schedule, online students can work in an entry-level position in whatever field they are studying about in addition to taking classes.
Con: Students miss the human contact and social aspects that can be found if they attend on-sight classes. For many students, interaction with others is a big part of the higher-education experience. Add to that the fact that students are able to meet professors face-to-face at traditional universities. Developing relationships with instructors is often a vital part of college and can lead to job offers and scholarships.
Pro: Many mainstream colleges and Universities are realizing that the convenience of online education is important in today's world. Most schools offer some classes online, giving the students the best of both worlds.
Pro: It is convenient to study at your own pace instead of having to be at class at a certain time every day. Many students opt for online study so that they can keep working and saving up money, instead of spending it all on school and room and board.
Con: On the other hand, many employers might question an online degree more than a regular degree. While most online schools are accredited and offer the same classes as their on-sight kin, the whole industry is still too young for some employers to accept.
