Jill Woods
Le Tour de France is the world's best known cycling tournament which covers areas around France and neighboring countries in a three week event.
This year the opening ceremony will present the teams in Trafalgar Square on July. The race will start on July 7th, in a 8 kilometre lap of central London, where the riders will start from the ramp at Whitehall taking some London's famous landmarks as the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Wellington Arch, Hyde Park, and finishing on the Mall.
Sunday, 8th of July, the first stage for the competitors will be in central London, where they will depart from the Mall going through the Admiralty Arch proceeding to the Thames down to the Houses of Parliament passing the famous Big Ben in London. After crossing the Thames river, they will ride to the London Eye, taking St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London.
The race will continue at the Tower Bridge, through Bermondsey and Deptford to Greenwich where they will be incredible crossing the Greenwich meridian line. After, they will be covering the next areas: Woolwich Abbey Wood and Erith. Out of London the riders will take Gravesend, Medway, Rochester Castle and the Cathedral, Maidstone, Tonbridge, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Tenterden, Ashford and finishing at Canterbury.
After taking a look at the roads, this is how the first stage of the Tour de France will develop.?we can only imagine how exciting it can be, and the view: very impressive.
