Letter To Unborn Baby
Wai Chong Mak
In the past, most people do not believe in communication with unborn baby. They thought that they were quiet, isolated and unable to listen and respond to communication. However, the recent improvement in science and technology show that foetus can respond to external stimulus and learning. Studies show that unborn baby can learn and response when he or she is in the womb. Prenatal training helps mothers to prepare for the arrival of babies. In my experience, I believe and practise prenatal training and communication with my 3 children while they were in the wombs. I found it remarkable in communicating and getting response from them.
I learnt prenatal training from my Right Brain Training teacher, May Ng, when I was pregnant with my second boy in 2001. I found it helpful in communicating with my baby then. My second son did not see my teacher, but he could tell me about his prenatal memory of my prenatal training lesson. I conducted the prenatal training for students to help mothers connect and communicate with their unborn babies. The best time to start prenatal training is in 2nd trimester because mothers have adjusted to their physical, emotional and psychological changes associated with pregnancy. Foetus in the womb can hear and respond to outside stimuli six to twelve weeks into pregnancy. The followings are some simple ways to communicate with unborn baby:
Four ways to communicate with your unborn baby
1. Give a name
When parents give a name to your unborn baby, it helps the unborn to fill your love and acceptance and develop a sense of belonging to the family.
2. Talking
Parents talk to their foetus as he or she is a person near you. Tell the unborn baby how much their parents love him or her. Tell the unborn baby what is happening now and what is going to happen.
3. Reading
Parents can read them books. They love to listen to your voice because it is special and unique to them. It is also an expression of love to them.
4. Singing
Some parents like to sing a song to their unborn baby. It helps the baby to calm down when he or she is in the womb and after delivery. One of my students shared that whenever I sang a song, my unborn baby kicked gently to give me response. She was joyful with the response from baby.
These tips are from on my personal experience and from my students who attended my prenatal training. They found the tips helpful and they could feel and connect with their unborn babies at the earliest stage. If mothers apply what they have just learned about, they would be peaceful and calm during their pregnancies.
