Letter For New Job
Bradlley Mckoy
Well, times like these are really exciting - and scary on some instances. It's exciting because finally, you are moving on with your life. It is thrilling because finally, you are starting to follow the career path that you've set up for yourself.
On the other hand, preparing for a new job is also scary. Firstly, you are to leave your comfort zone. You are to step outside of your convenient bubble and venture into the unknown. Secondly, by quitting your current job, you are not only leaving your colleagues. The truth is, you are also leaving behind your friends and even those whom you already consider family. Indeed, transferring to a new job is a bittersweet moment.
But since some things have to be done, then you need to find the courage to resign from your current job and set your heart out to what's in store for you. You need to do a lot of preparation. Here are a couple of tips:
1. Prepare your pocket and bank account.
When you transfer to a new job, you need to invest. For instance, you need to buy some new clothes. This is especially true if you came from an office that allows casual attire and you are transferring to one that adopts a strictly corporate dress code. Thus, you need to spend some of your savings and buy a pair of those pinstriped suits. You then purchase a few more attires to complete your corporate look as soon as you get your first pay check.
Along with this, you may need to purchase a few pairs of shoes, or perhaps a new set of engraved cufflinks. All these will truly help you have that I-mean-business aura.
2. Prepare your mind and heart.
With any transfer - be it to a new house, a new school or a new job - comes stress. Therefore, to avoid feeling the debilitating effects of stress, prepare your mind and heart. Open your mind to the new things that come your way. Get your heart ready for new circle of friends, new acquaintances, and even new pain-in-the-butt's.
Be aware that your new job is a new environment. As such, new stressors, new reinforcers, and of course, new darlings will arrive.
To conclude, it's not always easy to transfer to a new job. Even if your current job is like hell materialized here on earth, it will always have a special place in your heart. So when the times comes that you have to leave for another job, you will always - always - feel pangs of pain in the process. It's just normal. It is a common human reaction. After all, once upon a time, you were happy in your current job. Once upon a time, you were grinning from ear to ear the minute you signed your employee contract.
