It is said that depression has become as rampant as it is today only with the onset of the modern age. The amount of stress, complexities, tensions and challenges that modern man has to face in the survival for existence that he automatically falls prey to the curse called Depression. Today even the children and the elderly people are not immune to the curse called depression. Everybody is equal in the eyes of depression. But can we really conclude that the people in the earlier days were free from depression?
Just spare a moment and give a deep thought to the lives of the kings and the queens and their subjects. Do you really think their lives were simpler and they were free from depression? Well, I am sorry to say but I feel that even those people suffered from depression and probably in the same degree or more but not less. The kings had the complete responsibility of leading a country and its people on his head. Though he had helpers, still the times were not advanced and the systems of governing were also not as efficient as they are today. The king was more or less the sole head. He not only had to rule over his subjects and protect them, but he also had to live in constant agile as there were dangers of sudden attacks from the kings of other places. Conquests and attacks were very frequent in those days. There were no treaty as such to protect countries from each other.
Not only the rulers but sometimes the subjects also had to live very pressed lives from all points of view, in case the ruler turned out to be a tyrant. Most of the governments in the earlier times resembled the autocratic form of government to describe in modern times. There was nobody who could raise a voice against the king. Anyone who dared was made mum permanently.
Even the women led a very miserable life. They were always the downtrodden, the humiliated, and were always on the receiving end. Even the queens had a life confined to the harems. They were the queens only for the name. But their lives were far from queenly. They were the objects of recreation for the king. In case of the Mughal emperors it is said that they didn't even know some of their queens. One could well imagine the condition of such queens. Girls were given away as rewards in case a country lost a war with another one. Girls were treated no less than objects of use.
There are various other factors related to this topic but there are limitations of time and space. Now tell me, do you really feel depression would have not attacked these people. Certainly it would have. If the working of the brains of those people were same as ours.
Sadly enough, the people in those times didn't have access to the depression drugs. Well, they were not privileged enough. Poor they! But all you people who are in the grip of depression today are lucky enough to have a number of cures at your disposal, being one of them. You don't have to work hard too. All you need to do is to and lead a depression free life. But there are certain conditions that are required to be followed before you can buy Xanax. The most important being the attainment of the Xanax prescription. When I say attain I don't mean attaining by hook or by crook. I mean, xanax can be had only after medical consultation in order to avoid . So don't let depression eat you from inside. Eat it instead!
