Foods That Fight Cancer
Greg Auster
Cancer brings with it many risk factors, especially it is one of the most deadly diseases. So we must pay attention to the type of foods we're consuming, and start eating foods rich in nutrients that has help a lot of people reduce this cancer risk. Foods rich in fiber like oatmeals, vegetables, fruits and 100% fruit juice are helpful in preventing the risk of cancer.
However, by making some simple adjustments in your diet by including foods like beans and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprouts, and kale which are rich in phytochemicals, the cancer risk mostly aren't gonna hapen. Dark green leafy vegetables like spinach, romaine lettuce, collard greens, lutein, and carotenoids are also good in fighting cancer. Your concern should be on foods that are rich in vitamins E, C, and A, which are all antioxidants. Studies show that they help prevent cancer by stopping the growth of free radicals in our body.
Tomatoes are rich in lycopene which contain an antioxidant phytochemical that helps in heart disease but are also rich in vitamins E, C, and A, which are all helpful against cancer. Use tomatoes in different food preparations like salad and home-made pizzas. You might as well use them as fillings for your burgers and sandwiches. Watermelon is also a good source of antioxidants, and contains around 80 percent of our daily vitamin C requirement. Not known to many, it also is a great source of vitamin A or what we commonly call as beta carotene from carrots. It also contains lycopene like tomatoes.
Cabbage, a cruciferous vegetable can help reduce the risk of colon and rectal cancer. In addition, cabbage is a good source of fiber and has rich vitamin C content, making it a versatile superfood which prevents cancers. Carrots, like squash are also a good source of fiber and beta carotene, and they have around three times vitamin A-giving power than any other food.
Kidney beans is also rich in fiber and protein. Whole wheat pasta is also a good source of fiber, and broccoli are excellent source for vitamin A and C . Include them in your favorite low-fat Italian dressing for a lovable dinner with cancer-fighting quantities.
Some fruits, like strawberries and blueberries are rich in vitamin C and fiber. They're easily eaten wherever your are and can blend on your favourite breakfast like whole grain cereal oatmeal and low-fat yogurt.
