While it is known medical fact that there are a few conditions that can cause a person to gain weight like thyroid or hormone problems, by far the biggest contributor to weight gain is too much food. In fact if you really want to lose weight then you need to learn more about the foods that can help this happen.
Weight loss using the right foods will help you if it is great health and a fantastic shape you are seeking as many of them actively help the reduction of body fat formation. There are now quite a number of foods that help weight loss and are also enjoyable with some of these listed here.
Among the weight loss food types that make the basis of regular dishes we could mention brussels, cabbage, boiled beans, peas, lentils and pasta. Weight loss food doesn't have to be uninteresting either and most people like a plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce but if then add veal or another low fat meat to the meal you have a healthy meal that is very tasty. White fish has long been known to be healthy but it is also good for weight maintenance as well especially if you have this with vegetables that have been steamed and even mash potatoes have a low calorie count. Weight loss foods also include the likes of cream cheese (low fat variety), rice (dark), porridge oats and any of the varieties of yoghurt.
Of course fruit and vegetables should not even have to be mentioned but almost all of them have beneficial effects on the system and are foods that help with weight loss. Even the likes of strawberries, kiwi fruit and water melons are excellent examples of fruits that have this dual role of health and weight loss functions.
Grapes are often the fist fruit of choice when visiting a sick friend in hospital and there is good reason for this as they are very healthy but fruits to avoid owing to their higher calorie count are bananas and figs. As for vegetables, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery and lettuce are among the favorites when it comes to long-term dietary plans.
Foods with high a sugar content (amongst others) like chocolate, cakes and fast foods are not good for healthy weight loss, in fact probably the complete opposite; unhealthy weight gain. Many foods that we enjoy like mayonnaise, dark chocolate, ice-cream and even cookies are being made in low fat versions that still retain a flavor almost as good as the full fat versions. It would be unfair to exclude everything that is nice from your weight loss diet but you should check the ingredients labels carefully on these products before you start using them.
