There are many home improvement projects that you can do yourself, however nobody can do everything. You must be willing to ask for help if you need it. Some tasks must be carried out by professionals for safety reasons anyway, in particular electrical and plumbing. You might be knowledgeable enough, however certain laws or zoning regulations may forbid you doing this yourself. Many states for example only allow electrical work to be carried out by a professional electrician.

If your home improvement projects include installing mains gas or plumbing then you may have to employ a plumber. This is very important when working with gas as it is very dangerous. Having a professional should guarantee that there won't be any leaks.

There are other more complex projects that most people could do themselves, installing doors or windows is actually a pretty simple project. It may seem like a major job, but it's not really.
