Have A Halloween Party
Peter Koonz
So what are you going to do for Halloween this year? Yes, believe it or not, it's time to start thinking about that already. And your kids have a lot of ideas for the holiday, so should you listen to them, or come up with your own plan? Well, that's something you will have to decide for yourself, but I would like to make one suggestion that you may not have thought of yet. A Halloween party is a great way to celebrate the holiday without going out into the madness that can surely be common on the streets on Halloween night. You can have the party at your own home, or you can host it from another place such as at the school or at a community center. The location is really up to you and your budget, but there are a lot of ways you can make a Halloween party fun and affordable.
One of the main things to keep in mind is the age of the children who will be attending. Chances are that most of them will be under ten, so plan accordingly. Drinks and snacks may have to be planned in conjunction with the other parents so that you can avoid any mishaps over what a child is or is not allowed to eat. Also, bear in mind that there are some things about Halloween that could be deemed inappropriate, depending on the individual beliefs held by parents of the children you would plan to invite. So early discussions with all of the parents will help to avoid any disappointment at the time of the party.
Here's what you can do for decorations. On the outside of the house, it would probably be best to make all the decorations less frightening. Some of the kids coming to the party will not respond very well to scary stuff, so you may want to either avoid scary things altogether, or at least reserve such displays for a special location that kids can choose to enter, or not, depending on their individual preference.
Invitations should be something in the spirit of the holiday. You probably do not need to mail them. Just have your children pass them out to the kids who will be invited. After all, these are your kids' friends, so they'll see them often enough to make sure the invitations are handed out. Also, if you've discussed it with the parents and they are okay with the idea, simply include a reminder on the invitation to bring some kind of snack or drink. This can be a little like a pot-luck if you've planned it that way in advance. That way you are also sharing some of the costs of the party with everyone else involved. After all, you're working out all the details and hosting the party, so a little sharing of the cost is reasonable.
At the party, be sure that you have lots of fun activities. Music, movies, and games are a must. And what would be better than for your daughter, the unofficial hostess of the event, to be a charming fairy? It's a wonderful idea she'll probably be excited about. She will be the darling of the party, greeting every guest at the door with a sprinkle of her magic fairy dust. It's sure to make her the life of the Halloween party
