You should eat a healthy, nutritious diet, composed of many different foods from the five food groups. This is the best way to eat because it has the variety of foods that have different vitamins and minerals your body needs. The five main food groups are fruits and veggies, whole grains, low-fat dairy, and lean protein. Fats would be included, but try to stay away from them as much as possible.
Natural veggies should be the leading food in your diet. Even if they may not taste as good as pizza, veggies have more nutritional value that is fundamental for exceptional health. Eating the veggies raw is the best way to go, steaming is the next best because this prevents much of the nutrients from being lost, unlike boiling or other cooking methods.
Whole grains have lots of fiber and vitamins which makes eating them crucial for your body. They are another food that should be eaten daily.
Whole fresh fruits are another beneficial food group for your complete health and nutrition. They contain vitamins and fiber much like veggies do, but fruit is much sweeter which makes them excellent for when your sweet tooth starts acting up.
Another crucial element of nutrition is protein. Protein can be found not only in lean meats and nuts, but also in veggies. Go for smaller portions of meats if you desperately have to have it however, and choose leaner meats such as chicken or fish over red meats such as beef.
Dairy is crucial to keep in your diet as well. It is one of the main sources of calcium which is crucial for keeping your entire body functioning properly. However, you should eat low-fat dairy products to cut down on your fat intake.
As we all know, we should limit our fat intake. So do this by staying away from foods high in fat. Also, try to steer clear of fried foods, processed foods, and foods high in sugar and salt.
Just follow these basics on what to eat and you'll be one your way to greater nutrition.
