How To Keep Water From Freezing
Wendi Watson
Water is regularly used in bathroom, toilet, kitchen and you cannot avoid using it fearing water damage. Bathrooms are highly susceptible to water damage and you guessed it right; more amount of water is often used in the bathroom. The more you use the more damp and moist bathroom is and the more the likelihood of getting damaged. However, you can control the water damage to some extent by inspecting and supervising for any obvious symptoms of water damage at regular intervals. The earlier you find out the flaws and rectify the problems; you can avoid major losses at later stage.
Always look out for any external sign of repair in the shower tap and bathtub as these are largely prone to damage by water. Tiles also need to be tested frequently to ensure that they are in perfect condition and replace them when need arises. The edges of tile should not have any cracks and the space between the adjacent tiles should be fully sealed. If you find it difficult to do, then take the help of a mason and he will do it right. If the drains and pipes are blocked, it would clog water in the bathroom and it would be always wet. If the moisture level is high and goes beyond the critical level, then the bathtub would require a replacement in the near future. As you see any obvious signs of damage, get it repaired instantly.
After spending large amount on the interiors of bathroom, it would be foolish not to check it for damage signs. In course of time, the water damages the original color of the tiles and walls making it look pale and dull. Painting the walls with exclusive synthetic wall paints will delay the onset of water damage. The paint forms a thin impermeable layer on the bathroom wall preventing the entry of moisture. Special paints are also available to safeguard the windows and doors in bathroom.
Kitchen is area that is recurrently exposed to water. It is true that compared to bathroom, kitchen floor and walls are spared from water damage, but the sinks and taps should be checked at regular intervals. The drainage should not be problematic and obstruct free flow of water. The tiles in the sink get spoiled soon and it needs to be replaced once they wear out. If the quality of the water in the area is not good then there is an increased chance of water damage. Hard water and the other types of water that are rich in salts and minerals corrode the metal pipes and taps. The utensils should be stored at a safe place away from water.
If your house is located in an area that receives frequent heavy rain falls, then needless to say that the entire house is liable to water damage soon. Make it a point to coat the walls with high quality synthetic paint to offer extra protection. Worse is the case in acid rain prone zones.
Water damage is inevitable and you can only plan in advance and supervise at periodic intervals to check for leaky roof, water seeping through wall, busted pipe, overflowing tap and blocked drainage system.
