Lynn Ratner, 46, from Sacramento is taking charge! She has originated some effective handlings of her own to lower her gas consumption. One thing she is doing is combining her weekly errands into one trip, rather than spreading them out over separate trips.. She also tries to arrange appointments for her office cleaning company, during non-rush hour times so she doesn't let gas burn sitting in traffic. She estimates she is now able to wait two days longer before she has to fill up her tank
She is not alone. Government statistics show consumers are using less gas since prices starting going up 4 years ago.
Some gas saving actions are more effective than others
I am here to share some that get results.
Comparison shopping -
For instance, you will usually find cheaper gas in the outlying suburbs than downtown. Upscale areas will usually have more expensive gas. Filling stations near major highway entrances can charge higher than stations further away. You can sometimes save by driving a few blocks from the highway to find a lower price.
Take advantage of discounts that are available. Many filling stations have coupons available for discounts on gas purchases. You can find these, like on the reverse side of grocery store receipts, in the mail coupons, online. Many filling stations will give you a discount on gas with the purchase of a car wash, or visa versa. A great way to save money on gas is by using a gas rebate credit card. Some of these cards can be used at virtually any gas station. A number of filling station-specific cards are available, but are much more limiting, since you only save money at the same brand station.
TELECOMMUTE ?
Telecommuting (working from home as an employee of a company) helps the environment, makes for less rush hour traffic, is good for family life and uses less on gas. Try to get the boss to allow you to telecommute at least part of your work time.
Convert Your Engine From gas to Hydrogen ?
If you do a partial (hybrid) conversion then you can expect savings on your gas consumption of up to 30% maybe more. If you do a full conversion then you will never have to buy another gallon of gas for the rest of your life. It is far easier than you might think and costs next to nothing.
