How To Install Hardwood Stairs
Arturo Ronzon
If you know how to install hardwood flooring, you are one of the lucky ones who can save money on installation costs. It is not difficult to learn how to install hardwood flooring. There are a few basic steps you need to follow, and with the help of a friend, you should have your hardwood flooring installed in no time.
The first steps in the installation process it to rip up the old flooring. You will need to remove saddles or door jambs so as not to have to cut them off later. You will want to put down a sub floor to give your new flooring a surface that is free of gaps and will supply a secure surface for setting wood flooring correctly. When the sub floor is in place, you should use a red rosin paper as an underlayer for your new wood floor. Then you should make exact base lines that will guide the first few rows of the flooring
When the hardwood flooring has been installed, you will then need to sand the floor. This is a labor intensive, tedious task. If you ask anyone who knows how to install hardwood flooring, they will tell you that is everyones least favorite part of the job. It is not only because it is a hard job, but it is boring. If you rent a sander, they can be noisy so as well as eye protection, you may want to use some hearing protection too.
If you have one, use a window fan to get rid of some or most of the dust that the sander doesnt get in their dust bags. You may find that there is a gap from the wall to where the sander started. You may need to utilize an edge sander to finish the job properly. Be sure that all the sanding lines are going in the same direction or it can stick out like a sore thumb.
With all the different power tools that are involved with how to install hardwood flooring, most men will jump at the chance to do this task themselves. Be sure you use the proper protection equipment as well as operate the power tools correctly to avoid serious injury.
