How To Make Floating Candles
Randy John
Most already know that adding the special touch of a candle to any situation can be a great way to lighten up the celebration. For those that are looking and debating at the types of candles that are available, floating candles may be the best possibility. This will give you the ability to decorate while adding a small flare to any type of celebration.
Floating candles can be used for any occasion, but are most often seen in more formal events, such as weddings. They are also used as decoration pieces for holiday events or other types of parties that require a lighter atmosphere. These can be party favorites, especially to put in the middle of a table during a reception. Not only does it add lightness to the room, but because it is set inside of a vase which contains water, it can also be used as a more decorative piece. Most that use floating candles use them because it combines elegance with a great decoration.
Floating candles work first by being placed in a jar or vase of water. Usually, everything will be decorative, as floating candles are often used as center pieces. The floating candle will not be as long as most candles are which is what gives it the ability to float. The wick will be placed at the top of the candle and will be protected by a small side that will be upwards. This general idea can be found on most floating candles, and is then extended by putting in more intricate designs.
Most floating candles will be small, beginning with a three inch overall size. Floating candles are often times designed into shapes to brighten to the occasion as well, including floral shapes to lily pads.
However, it is not necessarily the candle that makes the decoration. This only adds a little light to the centerpiece. In order to balance this out, there can be designs on the jar or vase that it is being held in to bring out a certain atmosphere.
Because floating candles are usually smaller and do not have as much to ignite, the other parts of the decoration are just as important. This allows you to create an overall theme and style for the celebration that you are conducting. For example, many will take the jar or vase that it is being held in and add things to it or inside of it. For example, flower petals can be added into the water. You can also put beads or bows to brighten up the outside look. This allows you to combine a variety of decorations to make an overall atmosphere.
If you want to lighten up the atmosphere with a major centerpiece, then floating candles can be an effective and intricate way to begin the celebration. By looking at the possibilities, you can definitely find a style, shape and theme that will fit into what you need for the particular evening you are putting together and presenting. Floating candles can give you the best of every type of décor for the evening.
