Once your blog is in place you should start posting immediately. Once there are two or more posts, you should immediately submit them to the major search engines. Once there are five or more posts, you should also submit it to the major directories. However, it is not time yet to relax.
One does not quit the job to relax after establishing a business. He keeps working, and relaxes only during well-deserving holidays. The same is true of jobs. One keeps working every day and relaxes only when he earns enough leave and money to do so. The same is true in the world of blogging for income.
Keep blogging at least 5 days a week. A mere 200 words per post, but relevant to your theme, would suffice. This means just 1000 to 1200 words, which is equal to one full-length article, would keep your blog moving. This is not much to ask (or to invest) if you are serious about net-based income.
On the other hand, if you believe all those ads that say that someone made $5000 from a stupid blog with a mere 10 article, it is time for you to quit because it is naive people who are stupid in the blog-world. In the real world you need to make 3 to 5 (preferably 5) till you are established. After that you can manage with 2 to 3 per week. However, those who post less than 3 per week will not be able to survive competition. You also need to keep promoting the blog.
Upkeep of Your Blog: Once posting and promoting are on schedule, you need to work on the theme of your blog. The word "theme" here means the appearance of your blog. If you are using a WordPress based blog (which I strongly recommend), then thousands of free themes are available. They range from the very simple to the very complex, and from the very plain to the very flashy.
New bloggers often choose flashy themes without realizing that such themes distract readers, make the blog slow, and result in less click-throughs. Thus you should choose a relatively simple and plain theme where the emphasis is on the material posted and not on the appearance. Since themes can be changed easily, you can always change it if you find something that is more suitable. The first choice need not be the last, thus it is always better to begin simple.
Add-on Or Plug-ins: As readers increase, you will face different needs. The first one would be to fight spam. Spam refers to unwanted comments, posted automatically by spam bots, mostly to advertise their wares. Many of these spam comments are related to illegal medicines or pornography. These are not only a distraction to the readers, but also a nuisance to you. Worse, many readers are so naive that they feel ill against you for these comments without ever realizing that these are spam-posts.
Many such problems can be solved with the help of plug-ins. Thousands of free plug-ins are available and a net-search will bring up many of them. Akismet is the most powerful anti-spam add-on and it comes to you as part of the WordPress software. You should enable it after you log into your control panel.
Keep polishing your blog with the help of themes, add-ons, and plug-ins. Make it an attractive place where people can find authentic and useful information, and you are on your way to blogging for a regular net-income.
