How To Learn The Acoustic Guitar
Allison Thompson
When you are looking to buy a new acoustic guitar, it is a good idea to read as many acoustic guitar reviews before you invest your money. There are two different types of reviews around today. The first is the one which has been written by an expert and is someone who has had the chance to try out various different guitars regularly. Whilst the other is written by users and relates to one specific guitar that they are using.
All the expert acoustic guitar reviews are written by someone who has several years of guitar experience. These people should also have several guitars from different manufacturers that they have used and reviewed. They should also be able to point out the good points and bad points of any acoustic guitar, even though they may prefer a particular one. Any biases that they have they should admit to and explain why. You are not looking for someone with a Bachelor's Degree in music. What you are looking for is someone who knows their stuff, and tells you why you should take what they say into consideration when looking for a new guitar.
When looking for user reviews, find a site that has several reviews of each guitar by a number of different kinds of musicians. Ideally go to music store sites, as they will have user reviews. When looking at these reviews be sure to find reviews from people who are in the same genre and performance level as you are, or hope to someday be.
When searching online for the right kinds of reviews relating to acoustic guitars there are a number of things that you can do. By using these tricks it will not only speed up the search process but will often help you to find exactly what you are looking for. One trick is to place quotation marks around the phrase that you are using as your search criteria. So when typing in acoustic guitar reviews remember to put the quotation marks ("") in front and at the end of the phrase.
When doing a search on sites such as Yahoo if you type in acoustic guitar reviews without the quotations you will get around about 17 million results. But if you do the same search again but place quotation marks around the words the number of results you get is greatly reduced. Instead you will only end up with just over 6,000 search results. This trick can also be used to carry out much more refined searches for reviews on a specific type of acoustic guitar. If you just type in for example Martin DX1 you will end up with a total of around 38,000 search results, but by placing the quotation marks around "Martin DX1" this figure is now reduced down to just about 10,000.
Another trick that you may want to try when searching for acoustic guitar reviews is by including a plus sign (+) in to the search criteria. If you do this then the search engine will refine it searches to only include those that contain the exact phrasing that you have typed into the search box. Typing in "Martin DX1 review+" will come with a total of nine search results on Yahoo, because the search engine has only looked for those sites which have the exact same phrasing that you have typed in.
Another good trick you may want to try when searching for acoustic guitar reviews is to actually mix up the words that you are using. So why if searching for the Martin DX1 then type in "Martin DX1"+review and the results that come back are far more than if you typed in "Martin DX1 Review"+. Instead of just nine search results you will end up with around 500. Also you can use this as a way of finding out specific information about a particular acoustic guitar as well. For example if you want to know more about the guitars action then you need to type in say "Martin DX1 Review Action"+ and the search engine will then look for results to match this.
If you use the tricks that we have mentioned above then you will find it much easier to find the right kinds of acoustic guitar reviews that you are after. This will not only save you a lot of time but it will help to make the decision as to which one you should buy much easier also.
