Too much heat can make you tired, hurt your job performance, and increase your chance of injury. You can get a skin rash. You can also get:
Dehydration. The body loses water and can't cool off fast enough. You may feel thirsty and weak.
It is normal for intense exercise to make your muscles burn, but hard exercise does not cause painful burning that feels like fire. Furthermore, the burning of hard exercise is relieved by slowing down. The muscle burning of impending heat stroke does not go away when you slow down.
As your temperature rises further, the air that you breathe feels like it's coming from a furnace and no matter how rapidly and deeply you try to breathe, you can't take in enough air. When you exercise intensely, you can become very short of breath, but the air you breathe will not burn your lungs. Burning in your lungs, not relieved by slowing down, signals impending heat stroke.
In order to function properly, the body has to operate in a very narrow range of internal or core temperature or risk heat injuries. This optimal body temperature range is 36.1 ? 37.8 degrees Celsius. In strenuous physical exercise particularly of an endurance nature, the body core temperature may rise above this optimal range. Heat injuries occur when the body is unable to manage this raised core temperature.
If you feel like someone you are with is having a heat stroke, it is imperative that you seek medical attention immediately. You should call 911 or take them to the closest emergency room. If you are waiting for an ambulance, take the person inside to get them out of the heat and the sun. Use a cloth to apply cool water to the person's skin and fan them while they are lying down with their feet slightly raised. Once the person goes to the hospital, they can expect to have an IV for fluids and to be on bed rest.
Bulldogs tend to have respiratory problems due to the flat face. Sometimes this breathing problem can restrict their ability to breath. Snoring is a common issue with Bulldogs and there really is no cure for this as in people. Bulldog health problems also include hip problems, allergies and cherry eye along with their bad breath. This breed of dog seems to have a problem with hookworm, roundworm and tapeworms more than other breeds of dogs.
It is very important to treat heat stroke in dogs as soon as possible. Failure to treat the condition promptly can cause chronic problems in the future or even death. Your dog's body temperature needs to be lowered quickly. If you choose to take him to a vet immediately, you should put some ice packs on your dog to help lower the temperature. At the very least, you should roll down the windows or use the air conditioner on the drive to the veterinarian's office.
